Two vehicles have been confirmed burnt beyond recognition at Ajileti Area, along Idiroko Expressway, Ogun State when a 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit tanker leaked the inflamable products on the road and caused fire outbreak.
Oke-Odan Divisional Commander, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Ogundiran Olusegun and Idiroko Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Akinwunmi Olaluwoye, who confirmed the news said no life lost at the incident. They added that the ugly incident occurred late last night.
According to the traffic officers, the tanker, full loaded with PMS and filled to the brim, leaked and caused the fire.
They enjoined all tanker owners to install safety valves on their vehicles to prevent spillage of product even if there is road crashes.
According to them, the traffic agencies had begun a public enlightenment campaign to educate motorists on the dangers inherent in some unwholesome practices.
They further implored tanker owners to properly maintain their vehicles before putting them on the road to avoid unnecessary loss of lives and properties on the road.
