Trader in court for posing as a respondent in divorce petition

A 39- year-old trader Ismail Rufai, who allegedly posed as the husband of a petitioner in a divorce case, on Wednesday appeared in Magistrate's Court, Ota, Ogun State, for impersonation.
Rufai, whose address was not provided, is charged with one count of  impersonation.
The prosecution counsel, Cpl. Titi Olatoye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan.31, at about 2 p.m. in Ota, Ogun.
Olatoye alleged that the defendant, appeared as Mr Akintunde Morakinayo, a respondent in a divorce petition with number NCT 703/2019 at the High Court, Ota, Ogun.
She said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 484 of the Criminal Code Vol.1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Sam Obaleye admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in lime sum.
She ordered that the sureties must possess landed property with an evidence of identification.
Obaleye adjourned the case untill Feb.7, for continuation of trial.
