Breaking: FRSC urges motorists to take precautions as tanker explosion causes heavy inferno, gridlocks on Kara Bridge

The Lagos State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Olusegun Ogungbemide has advised all road users moving outward Lagos to look out for other diversions and be well cautioned due to a terrible fire outbreak on Kara Bridge along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.

According to the FRSC Chief, the unfortunate crashes involving two tankers conveying petroleoum products engulfed in inferno on Kara Bridge along the expressway on the outward Lagos section.
He said FRSC operatives mobilised promptly to the scene for rescue operations, adding that Fire Service has equally invited to extinguish the inferno .
Information Carrier gathered that the fire had already affected three vehicles, three tankers and a trailer and the situation has caused serious traffic jam along the expressway.
Ogungbemide enjoin motorists who have reasons to use the road to seek alternative route for now to enable the Fire Services on ground to extinguish the fire.
He said: "The rescue operation is still ongoing and an updated version of the travel advisory will be sent later.
He said: "Those moving out of Lagos this morning can use Victoria Island by Ajah to Ijebu Ode to continue their journey.
Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway to Sagamu Interchange is another alternative that motorists can use at the moment."
The Sector Commander has assured motoring public especially those on essential duties that FRSC operatives would remain at the scene till normalcy is restored.
He advised operators of vehicles used for transporting highly inflamable petroleum products to operate with strict conformity of safety and operational standards prescribed by the 1957 United Nations Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangereous Goods by Road (ADR), which Nigeria acceded to as a Contracting Party.
