The Zone RS2 of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) will on Monday, August 10, 2020, commence a Special Operation tagged “OPERATION SCORPION” to tackle incessant road traffic crashes caused by unlatched trucks and trailers, the Zonal Commanding Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Imoh Etuk, has said
He said the operation will last till Sunday, August 16, 2020, noting that the operation will focus on driving without valid driver’s licence, driving with expired or worn-out tyres, dangerous driving, driving under the influence of Alcohol and drugs and speed limit very with regard to Regulation 151 of the National Road Traffic Regulations (NRTR 2012).
ACM Etuk explained that all articulated vehicles carrying containers or goods are expected to be adequately secured and latched.
ACM Etuk charged logistic companies to ensure that their drivers are well trained and their vehicles are in good conditions before driving on the road to avoid undue waste of lives and properties.
He said errant drivers would definitely be prosecuted accordingly in the course of the full enforcement.
