The Ketu Division Special Squad of Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (SO-SAFE) on Friday, August 20, 2020 arrested a suspected kidnap at Ijoun town in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The suspect with other three suspects that are yet to apprehended, according to a statement released by the Corps' Director of Information and Public Relations Officer, ACC Moruf Yusuf, hit the town on two Bajaj motorbikes on kidnapped mission.The statement noted that "the suspects have succeeded in the kidnap of a 30-year-old woman, Mrs Fagbohun Maria together with a baby she was backing in the presence of her mother.
"The victim mother while trying to alert the residents in the community and crying for help was shot and died on the spot.
"The Corps' Special Squad on routine patrol was ordered by the Corps Commander wSoji Ganzallo to spring into action and get the culprits apprehended.
"The gallantry efforts of the officers paid-off as they were able to rendered the suspected kidnappers operation destabilised.
"Meanwhile, the victims (a woman and her kid) were rescued unhurt and one of the kidnap suspect Mr Jimoh Fayemi, was apprehended. Three (3) locally made pistols and two (2) Bajaj Motorbikes recovered from the suspects."
The statement further said efforts are still ongoing to arrest the fleeing.
INFORMATION CARRIER gathered that the suspect and recovered exhibits three locally made pistols and two unregistered Bajaj Motorbikes have been handed over to Eegua Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation.
