Police arrests wanted notorious cultist in Ogun

*No violent cult group will allow to fester under my watch, says CP 

The Ogun State Police Command have arrested a wanted notorious cultist, Dare Ojugbele (aka stubborn 'M') terrorising Ilaro in Yewa Local Goverment Area and other part of communities in the state.

The suspect was arrested on Thursday, August 20, 2020, at about 12 noon when Ilaro Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP Olayemi Jacob, was on routine patrol with his men along Idogo road, sighted the suspect who had been on the wanted list of the command for quite sometime on motorcycle. 

The DPO, in a statement by the state Police Public Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, was quickly intercepted and subsequently arrested.

The statement further said one locally made pistol, one live cartridge, one 7.65 mm live ammunition and assorted dangerous charms was recovered when a search was conducted on him on the spot.

The suspect, according to the PPRO, confessed been a member of the dreaded Eiye cult group and they were responsible for series of cult clashes within Ilaro and its environs.

He said the Commissioner of Police CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation and prosecution, adding that the CP had also warned that violent cult group will not allow to fester in the state under his watch. 

He called on any of the cult members who is willing to denounce his membership to come forward as such members will be given amnesty, DSP Oyeyemi, concluded.
