The Founder/General of Stand on His Promises Evangelical Mission, Rev Caleb Babatope, has expressed concern over the way the name of God is being trade, maligned in the society through the preaching of prosperity above salvation and righteousness.
He attributed the misconduct of most self acclaimed clergymen to lack of adequate knowledge of the words of God in the Bible.
While lamenting the prevalence of indiscipline, atrocities, sexual immorality, gluttony, and financial impropriety in many churches in the country, the Rev Babatope, said “money has become the god of many self acclaimed men of God.
Rev Babatope disclosed this at the Lord feast and ordination service held in his church.
Rev Babatope said the ordination was a clarion call to those ordained, to engaged them more in preaching and evangelising the true words of God, which are faith, salvation and righteousness, urging the newly ordained servants of God to be more disciplined in areas where they have shown discipline and exercise discipline in areas where they lack such.
According to Rev Babatope, some acclaimed pastors were not called neither ordained by God but they jump into pupit through establishing churches as business or profits orientation organisation, just for money making and selfish interests.
He added that many of the church leaders cannot be trusted with any noble assignment because of their atrocities and too much love of money and luxurious lives.
He said: "Churches are now in a state where indiscipline has led to many instances of sexual immorality, gluttony, financial impropriety, laziness, as a result of way and manner the so called pastors engaged in preaching of prosperity and money above the faith, salvation and righteousness.
“The name of the Lord is being maligned in our society today because of the way church leaders are behaving. Obscene dressing and all forms of impurities are happening in the society. Some Christians cannot be trusted for any noble assignment.’’
“There appears to be no difference between them and the unbelievers. Money, in particular, has become the god of some Christians, including church leaders. What a shame to the Church! The Lord of the Church is sad concerning the state of the Church. We are robbed of our powers and molested by the children of satan because of our careless living and love of money”
Rev Babatope urges Christians to eschew jumping into the pupit without being called or ordained by God. Adding that indiscipline and atrocities committing by the religious leaders making Federal Government putting eyes into religious homes through signing the law of CAMA.
He appealed to Christians to go back to how Christianity was being practiced in olding days.
