The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu, (psc+), has reiterated the commitment and readiness of the police officers in Zone 2 Command in partnering with the Nigeria Army to combat crime, criminality and ensuring security of life and property within the zone.
The AIG disclosed this when the newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General G.A Umelo DSS, FCM, GCM, psc(+) fdc(+) MSc, today Wednesday, September 9, 2020, paid a courtesy visit to his office in Onikan Police Headquarters, Lagos.
The visit, according to the press statement issued by the Zone 2 Police Public Relations Officer, (ZPPRO) DSP HAUWA Idris Adamu, was in furtherance of the synergy and collaboration between the Nigeria Army and Nigeria Police in ensuring the security and protection of lives and property.
The statement said the GOC in retinue of officers was accorded General Salute by men of the Nigeria Police, Zone 2 Command Headquarters, adding that the senior officers in the zone were firmly introduced thereafter.
The statement further revealed that: "the GOC stated reason for the courtesy visit, which is sustenance of the existing synergy and collaboration between the Forces.
"In response, AIG reiterated commitment and readiness of the Zone to partner with the Nigeria Army in combating crime, criminality and ensuring security of life and property through the veritable tool of Community Policing Strategy to solve problems and maintain a very good work relationship."
