Court stops KAROTA from enforcing stickers on tricycle riders

A Kano High Court has restrained Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) from arresting and harassing tricycle riders without the agency stickers pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit filed before the court.


The presiding judge, Justice Jamilu Shehu Suleiman said the order was granted pursuant to an interim application filed by Barr. Abba Hikima, Counsel to the applicant, Abdullahi Yahaya Mai-Sango.

Solacebase reports that the applicant, Abdullahi Yahaya Mai-Sango, on behalf of himself and commercial tricycle riders in Kano is asking the court to order the first and second respondents in the suit, Baffa Baba Dangundi and Kano Road & Traffic Agency (KAROTA) respectively from enforcing purchase of the agency sticker at N8,000 and additional fines for defaulters.

KAROTA clears roads blocked by illegal traders.

Justice Jamilu Shehu Suleiman in granting the order on Friday, October 2, adjourned the matter till October 21, 2020, for the hearing of the motion on notice.
