Christmas is here again and Akwa Ibom State government is ready to make the people feel the essence of the season in various ways.

✔ Akwa Ibom State is a tourist's haven with an array of cultural and tourist attractions for holiday makers and fun seekers
✔ There are various dance-plays to thrill you in the different LGAs such as: "Ntok òdiòdiò", "Utuekpe", "akata", "Asian uboikpa", "ebre", "boom regatta", among others.
✔ Already the Christmas village has been officially kicked-off which opening ceremony was on Tuesday December 1, 2020 at Unity Park along Udo Udoma Avenue in Uyo the State Capital.
✔ The first day witnessed an exciting outing by the BB Naija lockdown season star sensation, Laycon.
✔ The Christmas village which holds a lot of fun, will run till Friday January 1, 2021.
✔ With Corona Virus lurking around, the Christmas village is designed in strict compliance with the Covid-19 protocol.
✔ To this end, the entire 11 hectares of the Unity park is being utilized as against the 4.5 hectares used last year. This is to ensure that kiosks are spaced appropriately in compliance with social distancing.
✔ Face masks are to be worn compulsorily by everyone in the Christmas village and sanitizers as well as hand washing items will be placed at strategic locations in the park with strict observance of good hygiene.
✔ To avoid congestion, the Christmas village has three stages unlike last year’s own where a single stage was mounted.
✔ The three stages are evenly spread across the park and labelled according to each senatorial district to avoid clustering.
✔ Performances will also be toned down this year so the Christmas village will have more of music to entertain the guests.
✔ An official channel of communication has been created with a dedicated phone lines with which members of the public can make enquiries.
✔ The Christmas village offers a great opportunity for commerce and trade in addition to entertainment and hospitality.
✔ There will not be the annual Guiness of Records breaking "Christmas Carol", because of the ravaging COVID-19 Pandemic but the state holds several other attractions for the pleasure of all. The breathtaking serene greenery of Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort, sliding down to the waterfront is a beauty to behold.
✔ It is worthy of mention that, against the 2019 Christmas village which created employment for about 2,450 people and hosted over 1.6 million people, the 2020 Christmas village is expected to create more employment for the people as well as boost entrepreneurship in the state.
