GWLN Lagos State Chapter installs coordinator, other executives

By OLALEKAN AYENI: The Global Women's Leadership Network (GWLN) on Saturday, November 5, 2020 officially installed Mrs Faith Anyika-Ibeh as the group's Lagos State Coordinator.



She was inducted with Patron, Matron, other sub-executives and Cluster Managers to run affairs of the group in Lagos.

The induction programme was part of activities used to officially commissioned the group's local level, tagged: "Sisters Society" Lagos State Chapter.



Speaking at the event, the Country Ambassador Precious Gilbert-Akpan, explained that World Council established GWLN in 2009, with an initiative to tackle the industry's gender gap and also leveraging resources to strengthen the economic security of women and their families.

She said the group also dedicated in addressing and facilitating greater gender balance among leadership positions, adding that the network has reached millions of women from over 118 countries and still counting.


According to Ambassador Gilbert-Akpan, the group would continue to engage members with educational programming, networking opportunities, relationship building and mentorship with the goal of empowering them to further the credit union (cooperative) movement, impact their lives positively and change communities worldwide. 

About Sister Societies:
She said Sister Societies are local chapters of GWLN that established around the world to further the network's global mission by making local impact through raising awareness about world council's work, grow network membership, support local community efforts, serve as a platform to discuss credit union issues among peers and foster solutions to close the gender parity gap.



Ambassador Gilbert-Akpan applauded the integrity, efficient and committment of the Lagos Coordinator, Mrs Anyika-Ibeh. According to her, she passionately carried out every assignment without any digression from the rules, guides and directives of the group.

In her welcoming address, Mrs Anyika-Ibeh, appreciated all guests present at the colourful event, saying the inauguration was a progressive milestone to all members of Lagos State Chapter of Sisters Society.


She said: "The mutual passion, vision and mission for Sisters Society, have helped us to unite and achieved our goals. We have learnt many initiatives that will continue in several ways benefit us. All these are geared towards empowering the ourselves to become more productive in the society and world at large," she added.
