The former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has been arrested.
Okorocha who is one of the Nigerian Senators was arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at about 4pm on Tuesday at his Unity House private office in Abuja over fraud allegations.
Information has it that the former governor was arrested after a five-hour standoff with EFCC operatives who trailed him to the location.
EFCC source said the former governor had refused to honour invitation extended to him by the anti-corruption agency.
As at the time of filling this report according to the Commission spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, who confirmed the former Governor’s arrest, he is still undergoing interrogation.
Uwujaren did not give any reason for the arrest but many sources said the arrest is not unconnected with alleged large scale fraud perpetrated by the former governor during his tenure.
