...Anambra Professionals Condemn Attack On Ex-CBN Governor, Soludo
Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack on former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
Recall that Soludo was attacked on Wednesday by gunmen who killed three policemen attached to him and kidnapped the State Commissioner for Public Utilities, Emeka Ezenwanne.
The incident happened in Soludo’s Isuofia hometown in the Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State during a meeting with youths of the area.
Anambra State Police had earlier said one suspect was tracked and arrested through a telephone picked at the scene of crime.
However in an update, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu said four more suspects have been arrested.
Four Suspects Arrested Over Ex-CBN Governor, Soludo's Attack
The statement made available reads: “Police operatives attached to Anambra State Command today 1st April, 2021 have arrested four additional suspects in connection to the recent attack and gruesome murder of three policemen at Isuofia Civic Centre in Aguata LGA of Anambra State.
“The suspects are: Mbah Victor,30, John Olisakwe , 21,Chigozie Omeh, 20,and Emmanuel Nnobi, 28.
“The suspects confessed to have actively taken part in the attack and subsequent abduction of the Commissioner for Public and Utilities, Emeka Ezenwanne, which the Command is working assiduously to rescue.
“Consequently efforts is still on going to apprehend other fleeing accomplices, unravel the circumstances surrounding the incidence and bring perpetrators to book.”
