*LG boss, TRACE give two weeks ultimatum to remove trucks
Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) and Ado-Odo/Ota  Local Government have tagged CWAY Food and Beverages and Nigeria Bottling Company (NBC), the most disobedience to traffic rules organisations in Ado-Odo/Ota Area of the Ogun State.
It has been observed that the two organisations have not subjected to traffic rules due to indiscriminate parkings of their trucks on highways, thereby causing gridlocks and nuisances around the area.
The companies also accused of lack of adeguate sanitation exercise within their jurisdiction, causing environmental pollution and degradation.
Therefore, the Local Goverment and TRACE have given the companies two weeks deadline to remove the parking trucks off Ilogbo road, Ota, or face wrath of the law.
TRACE Area 4 Commander, Adekunle Ariyo Ajibade and Chairman of the council, Alhaji Wasiu Lawal, gave the order during a stakeholders meeting organised to proffer lasting solution to traffic bottlenecks at Ilogbo axis within Ota.
They said: "The two companies need to embrace their Community Social Responsibility (CSR) budgets for betterment of the residents within their operational environment and see their existence do not endanger peoples' lives rather than enhance their betterment."
The council boss said there was the need to maintain or improve on the existing peaceful relationship between the companies and residents, saying this is gradually going sour due to incessant traffic gridlocks on Ilogbo axis.
He expressed sadness over the high levels at which residents face terrible traffic gridlocks within the axis due to indiscriminate parkings and disorderliness of their drivers.
"I have also been a victim of this. One day, I had to alight from my car, trekked and even controlled the traffic, after being stuck for more than 45 minutes for a journey that ought not to take more than 10 minutes,” the chairman said.
"There was a plan for the council to declare a state of emergency on roads in Ado-Odo/Ota so that drastic action could be taken to save road users' time that ought to have been invested in veritable businesses.
Adekunle, in his welcome address, said TRACE have received series of petitions from communities on hazard parkings of trucks owned by both CWAY and NBC on Ilogbo road.
He urged the companies to comply with traffic rules and strictly to this warning to guaranteed the existence of their friendship and as well creating best living environment for the residents.
In response, the representatives of CWAY and NBC, Mrs Bunmi Adesayo and Mr Sola Kolade, promised to ensure that sanity reigned on Ilogbo road by removing trucks from the road.
They also pledged their companies’ commitment to ensuring their CSRs are geared towards enhancement of better living of the people in Ota as demanded the by the government authorities concerned.
