FRSC to security personnels: Allow Vehicles parked out of road before searching

The Ogun State Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has urged the security personnels attached to Idiroko-Border Expressway to park vehicles out of the road before conducting searches.
It's Idiroko Unit Commander, Akinwunmi Olaluwoye, made this plea while addressing pressmen in his office. He expressed sadness as majority of the security officers derived joy in creating unnecessary traffic gridlocks through conducting vehicle searchings along the expressway.
He said this indiscipline coupled with the reckless driving of smugglers has been the major factors contributing greatly to the incessant road traffic crashes along the highway.
The Unit Commander said the Corps have been engaging on rigorous public enlightenment campaigns both in the garages, religious homes, schools among others to sensitised road users on the importance of adhered strictly to traffic rules.
He appealed to all vehicle owners to desist from using their vehicle to smuggle petroleum, saying PMS is an inflamable product that could easily caused fire outbreak should any slightly strike on the road.
Commander Olaluwoye said all vehicles owners are expected to be mindful of whom they send an errand with their vehicles even mechanics. Noting that majority of the vehicles owners aren't aware of crimes committing with their vehicles whenever is not with them.
He said all fleet owners and drivers are expected to ensure their vehicles are in good conditions in accordance with the minimum or maximum road standard before embarking on a journey. Noting that adherence to traffic rules is only solution to reduce if not total elimination of traffic crashes on Nigeria road.
He also said all fleet owners are expected to ensure their drivers have valid driver's licence and minimum standard education that could enable him have adequate knowledge of highway codes before driving on the road. Adding that no quack and illiterate drivers that cannot read neither have knowledge of translating highway codes to be driving especially the hydraulic vehicles on the road.
He urged the transport stakeholders to always engaged in training, retraining and commendations of their drivers, saying road traffic crashes would definitely reduced if all these factors are considered.
He vowed that the Command will not relent from its normal or special patrols that would force road users to obey traffic rules within the jurisdiction.
The Commander, thanked the Commission on behalf of those benefited from FRSC 2019 promotions. He urged the newly promoted Officers and Marshals to continue putting in their best that could enable the Corps achieve its target. To whom much is given, much is also expected, he said.
Commander Olaluwoye noted that the Command would consolidate on existing synergies and collaborations between FRSC, sister agencies and transport stakeholders to guaranteed smooth operations within the jurisdiction.
