By OLALEKAN AYENI --- In the bid of consolidating on all strategies that would put an end to trafficking, Insecurity and crime related issues in the country, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons (NAPTIP) had visited the Rivers State Sector Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The official visit, according to the agency's Zonal Commander, Mr Gav Iornenge Festus was to work with FRSC and other sister agencies to help clampdown the rate of trafficking in the country.
He also mentioned that his reason for wanting to collaborate with FRSC is because NAPTIP operate on the roads, carry out enlightenment at the motor parks, adding that trafficking involves movement of individuals from one place to another and the Corps can play a key role in helping someone from being trafficked as it is now easier for persons to be trafficked through the means of information technology (Social media).
Mr Gav Iornenge used the opportunity of the visit to seek for a training between the NAPTIP and FRSC officers to enable the two agencies exchange ideas that would help to achieve its goals.
He said if FRSC officers are properly trained and groomed with the information about trafficker and trafficking, it will improve their knowledge on identifying persons being forced against their will in an unpleasant situation.
He concluded by thanking the sector commander for his warm reception and hoped for further collaboration.
The Rivers Sector Commander, CC Salisu Umar Galadunci, in his response welcomed the NAPTIP team, saying federal agencies should work together to make Nigeria better.
He said NAPTIP is a very important agency and trafficking is a serious crime involving high network criminal and is done in different manner hence the need to collectively fight against it.
He said the training will be organised so as to know the key technique to figure out trafficking, he said he’s grateful for the visit and assured him of continuous partnership.
