... Drivers advised to undergo eye check every six months
By OLALEKAN AYENI --- The representative of Rivers State Chapter of Nigerian Optometric Association led by Dr. Okpo Wallace, has paid a courtesy/familiarization visit to the Rivers Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Salisu Umar Galadunci.
The visit, Dr Wallace said very necessary as a means to introduce themselves to the Sector Commander.
While briefing about their past partnership with the corps in various ways in taking care of the drivers and general public's vision, talked about the world glaucoma week, saying it is a week dedicated to fight this “thief of sight” called Glaucoma.
He appealed for further collaboration between FRSC and the Association in all possible ways.
The Sector Commander in his responses welcomed them and urged them to continue with the good work of informing individuals about their eye sight and not to relent as prevention is better.
He spoke on how the Corps takes the issue of eye sight seriously and drivers are required to undergo eye check every six months.
He also spoke on the past collaboration with optician to undergo eye check for staffers and commercial drivers, that this is what we must do continuously to keep the society informed. He concluded by assuring them of continuously partnership and collaboration.
