Parents of the accident victim who lost his life during an alleged chase by operatives of the Osun State Joint Taskforce has revealed that two of their sons were lost to accident in just three months.

Some operatives of the State Joint Taskforce were alleged to have chased a vehicle conveying four boys suspected to be internet fraudsters, leading to a ghastly road accident on Tuesday, September 15, 2020.

The accident occurred around 5:30pm at the East bypass road, Osogbo when the Toyota Corollla with registration number KUJ-553LY Abuja, conveying the victims veered off the road during the chase, and hit electricity poll before falling into a deep side of the road.

Shortly after, uneasy calm rented the air leading to protests and burnfires in majors areas in Osogbo and its environs.

Meanwhile, parents of one of the deceased who gave up the ghost instantly, Idris Ajibola, has said their son was not an internet fraudster but traded in mobile phone repairs.

“We read in the news and we are also hearing it all over the place that our son Idris Ajibola was a Yahoo boy, it is a lie from the pit of hell. Our son was not a Yahoo boy, he had his job. "After he finished from  secondary school, he traveled to Shagamu in Ogun State to learn mobile phone repairs. That was what he had been doing”, said one of the deceased uncles, Damilare Opadotun.

“Idris and his friends went to buy bread when he met the untimely death, this is wickedness and you can see what they have put us into, they have put us in eternal sorrow and grief” lamented the uncle.

Describing his death as one but too many, Idris’ parents want security agencies to fish out the killers of their son and bring them to justice.

“This was the second time we lost our children to accident in three months. Idris brother was also killed in a ghastly road accident just three months ago. The most pathetic thing was that the police allowed the killer to manage to escape and ran way from justice” alleged the deceased uncle.

“We call on the government and the Inspector General of police to make sure that the killers do not go unpunished. They must face wrath of the law, this must serve as deterrent to others. The killings of innocent youths in the country must be stopped, our son must not die just like that”.

However, the police has vowed to unravel the mysteries surrounding the road accident which claimed the life of 21 years old Idris Ajibola.

The Osun State Commissioner of Police, Undie Adie confirmed the accident and the death of Idris while reacting to the incident at the State Police Command.

“We heard the alleged chase of the car by an alleged red vehicle leading to fatal accident but we cannot right now ascertain those in the red vehicle”, said the commissioner of police.

Adie disclosed that investigation is ongoing to get to the root of the matter just as he promised that the issue will not be swept under carpet.

Meanwhile Idris Ajibola was said to have been buried after the corpse was released to the family from the State Hospital’s morgue Asubiaro, Osogbo.
