In its bid of making the road more durable and accident free, the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) had issued a serious warning to articulated vehicle owners and drivers to desist from plying the newly reconstructed Osi-Ota/Navy Music/Ikola Road in Ota.
Its Corps Commander/Chief Executive Officer, Seni Ogunyemi, said the warning is highly imperative as the agency would have zero tolerance on traffic indisciplines on the newly constructed roads, saying erring drivers and residents illegally dumping refuse on the road would be prosecuted in accordance with the State Traffic Law.
Ogunyemi said the roads would definitely have more life span if heavy duty vehicles were not allowed to have access on plying the roads.
He added that the heavy weight of articulated trucks and tankers would quickly damaged the roads and jeopardise purpose of reconstructing the it by the State Government.
Ogunyemi also admonished residents to desists from turning the roads including the drainages to refuse dumpsite, saying all residents are expected to imbide good spirit of maintenance especially any facilities provided by the government to make life better for the society.
He stressed his appealing to motorists to shun indiscriminate parking on the roads to ease free flow of traffic and stem down the high level of road crashes.
The TRACE boss, said all motorists, motorcyclists and tricyclists are expected to imbide on defensive driving cultures, maintain utmost discipline and avoid excess speed along the roads. He noted that the roads are community roads that unsuspecting children can cross without watching well.
The newly constructed roads commenced last quarter of year 2019 and will soon be officially commissioned by the State Goverment.
